I was initially going to attach a 360 degree VR camera to a hat and ask someone to give a guided tour of the auditorium, backstage and front-of-house of the Royal Opera House. I have done a test run of a 360 guided tour by punching a hole into an old bowler hat and putting a VR camera through the hole. We managed to rest the camera on my head with the camera's stand. One problem that we encountered was that the top of the hat had been caught on camera so in order to avoid this in the future we have decided to put the 360 degree camera on a stick which we would hold way above our head in order to avoid getting too much of our hat or head in the shot.
360 Degree Guided Tour Test
However, this idea appears to have been a bit of a dead end because the Royal Opera House don't seem to be too keen on allowing me to go around filming the venue. Due to this I am going to do a virtual tour of the college building instead to give the Royal Opera House an idea of what a VR tour of their venue would look like.
To do that, I will be using a boom pole and Samsung 360 camera. I will also need someone to act as a guide to show us around the college building.
